Champions League preview: Arsenal fires to round of 16 after win, Livepool draw plus more

The final group stage fixtures of the UEFA Champions league for this week went down on Wednesday night with beautiful displays as English side Arsenal defeated Borissia Dortmund at the Emirates to book a place at the round of 16.

It took the brilliance of French stalet Yaya Sanogo to net in the opener as the Gunners sealed the victory with a beautiful volley from Alexis Sanchez

A result that would give manager Arsene Wenger alittle bit a breathing space.

Group C recorded a lone goal win for Monaco and Zenit Saint Petersburg with Monaco sitting at 2nd position with 8 points. An interesting group that may still go in anyone's favour


Liverpool fail to win again as the English side couldnt seal victory against PFC Ludogorets Razg instead stettled for a draw. Liverpool has had a poor start to the premier league this season and will have to fight hard to qualify to the round of 16 as they lye in third position in the goup B table with just 4 points.

While reigning champions defeated Basel with a lone goal from Cristiano Ronaldo.


Mario Mandzukic was the hero on Wednesday night as the Atletico madrid striker got away with a hattrick against Olympiakos. The La Liga champions has being on impresive start to the campaign topping the group A table with 12 points. A result which sees them move on to the next round.

Serie A champions Juventus defeated 2-0 Malmo with beautiful strikes from Lorente and Carlos Tevez.
