Atletico Madrid star turned down huge spending Manchester City

Atletico Madrid star defender Diego Godin has poured cold water on a possible move to Manchester City even after the big spending side met his release clause.

The Uruguayan has decided against earning 6 million euros a season in a whopping 40 million euros release-clause-breakthrough from City boss Manuel Pellegrini.

And this gesture has been prompted to be rewarded by the Spanish club as Godin, though his contract ends in 2018 would be receiving an increased pay.

The 29-year-old is totally indebted to his team and would likely not want to miss his spot in defense at the Calderon for anything.
