The host of this years world cup Brazil came up as favourites in Friday's clash with Colombia as they beat their South American rivals 2-1.
Brazil found the opener through defender Thiago Silva in the 7th minute as the team continued in a well determined attacking display.
Colombia looked so out of place in the 1st-half, probably due to change of tactics by coach Pekerman. But their recovery into a determined mood in the 2nd half wasn't enough to get an equalizer as David Luiz's long range free kick found the back of the net making it 2-nil.
Colombia got a consolation goal from the spot as James Rodriguez scored his 6th goal in the tournament.
Columbia continued to press all through the 2nd half, but couldn't get an equalizer.
With Colombia out, Brazil will now face Germany in the semi final
