Manchester United was forced to
settle for a 1-1 draw in Sunday night Premier league clash with arch rival
Chelsea at the Old Trafford.
They game was a tight one as it
resulted goalless after the first half. It later took the intervention of
Chelsea legend Didier Drogba as the Ivorian put his side ahead with a powerful
header from set piece.
Jose Mourinho’s men kept on fighting
to seal victory but couldn't set another pass David De Gea with one of Branislav Ivanonic
effort strolling across the net.
Just when Chelsea were few minutes
away for another victory, there came a foul on United winger Di Maria which Chelsea
defender Branislav Ivanovic was punished for with a second yellow card that saw him leave
the pitch reducing the Blues to 10 men. The free kick which resulted found the
legs of United striker Lious Van Persie as a rebound after midfielder Marouane Felliani’s header was denied by Chelsea goalie Thibaut Courtoius
The scores became 1-1 at the 90th
minutes and remained so till the end of the match. Chelsea remain unbeaten with
23 points at the top of the table.
